How advertisers and visitors can recognize impersonation, preserve evidence and report suspicious profile activity.
Check the official profile URL
When someone claims to represent a directory profile, compare the link they provide with the official profile shown on the directory. A copied photo or display name alone does not establish identity.
Be cautious when a conversation suddenly moves to a new account, payment destination or contact method that is not shown on the current profile.
Preserve evidence before reporting
Save the relevant URL, username, date, screenshots of the suspicious material and a short description of what differs from the legitimate profile. Avoid publishing private information while documenting the issue.
Report the material through the platform where it appears as well as through the directory's support channel when the directory profile is being impersonated.
Keep account access protected
Use unique passwords, enable available multi-factor authentication and review account recovery information. Do not share verification codes with people contacting you through direct messages.
If account access may have been compromised, change credentials from a trusted device and review public profile information for unauthorized edits.
